Product Categories
This data file stores a list of valid choices for use in the four Product Category fields for each Product Master. These categories may be used to classify sales of products. The categories are also used in WebSAFE and Ollie!to allow on-line users the ability to quickly search for Products to order.

DESCRIPTION |
A 40 character description of the Category.

ID |
An eight character ID for the Category.
|

LEVEL (0-4) |
This determines which of the four Product Categories this Product Category may be used in. For example, if the Level is set to 1, then this Category may only be used in the CATEGORY #1 field for the Product Master. If you leave this blank, then the Category may be used for all four fields in the Product Master.

PARENT |
An eight character ID. You may enter another Category here which is one level higher than this Category. For example, if the Categorys LEVEL is 3, then you must select a PARENT which has a LEVEL set to 2. This allows you to set up a heirarchy of Product Categories such as: LEVEL DESCRIPTION 1 OFFICE 2 FURNITURE 3 DESKS 3 CHAIRS 2 WRITING 3 PENS 4 FELT 4 MARKERS 3 PENCILS |
