Day 2
Just ran more files through the latest build. I have to say that I am impressed at how much progress the guys made in just one day. It’s always like that… it’s easy to impress me because they can make a change to one line of code which affects every web page.
My hope is that by the end of next week, we’ll have some nice consistent formatting across all pages.
I’m reluctant to start editing content (which needs a lot of work, I know) until I’m certain that it’s all stable inside the current database.
You see all the content is stored inside an Ollie database. I’m editing it every day but the guys are creating the style sheets the change the way it looks. When it’s done, I’ll be able to make, for example, a simple change to one product price or one description and it will all magically update everywhere on the site.
But today is not that day. So it’s time to go home for a drink.

Strike 1
Well as you can tell, this was our first swing at using Ollie/10. I took the content from our old site, ‘poured’ it into the current Ollie/10 build and then let it generate the pages. Far from perfect.
But, it could have been worse! I have been ordered to -not- manually clean up anything, but rather to let the engineers fix Ollie and we’ll try it again tomorrow. I guess that’s how it will be for the next few weeks.
