Trusteer Makes Online Transactions Safer
March 25, 2013 :
We’re giving a ‘thumbs up’ to Trusteer Rapport, a software program that is designed to make online transactions safer.
The program runs on each desktop and acts as a keylogger monitor for a list of applications you specify—such as online banking web sites.
The overwhelming amount of on-line fraud doesn’t occur at the server; it occurs at the desktop. Machines that have already been compromised with some sort of mal-ware capture the user names and passwords while you type. Such mal-ware gets on millions of computers every year through well-publicized scams (e-mails with attachments, etc.) that we’re all told to ignore… and yet they happen.
Trusteer sits in the background and watches your computer for when you access a whitelist of sites and apps and when you do, it monitors for any activity that would indicate you are being monitored by another application, or if information is being silently transmitted to a site other than the intended one.
So far, Trusteer has received great reviews from the security community. The Rapport application is free for individual machines, but they sell a number of excellent services which are installed on the server and provide for easier maintenance and even better protection.
We have made sure that SAFE, Ollie and WebSAFE are 100% compatible with Trusteer products and we encourage you to check out their site and talk to your IT pro about Trusteer.
