This button lets you dial the phone number of the active contact, customer or vendor (depending on the active window) using your computers built-in modem. The Simple Accounting dialer sends the number to be dialed to the default TAPI compatible dialing program (usually the Phone Dialer application in the Accessories folder.)
Once the number is sent to the dialing program the phone number is dialed by your modem or phone system. You then need to press [Hang Up] which then transfers control of the call from your computer to your handset. You can cancel the call before it is answered by pressing <Esc>.
The Dialer may be activated at any time by pressing [F2] on your keyboard.
You can always paste the current phone number into a field. Simply place the mouse at the bottom of the dialer button, hold down the left mouse button and drag the mouse cursor to the field you wish to insert the phone number into. Voila! The current phone number is inserted into the field. (The mouse cursor changes shape to show you that you are dragging.)
Fields
10 Digit Long Distance Area Codes: A browse box into which you can enter non-standard area codes. This tells the Dialer to not prefix numbers within these area codes with a 1.
Include a 1 With This Number? If you are dialing a number which is in a non-standard area code, this field is normally unchecked. Check this box to override and force a 1 prefix for the current number to be dialed.
Always Display This Window Before Dialing? Check this box to force the dialer window to display before each request to dial numbers. If you have no non-standard area codes in your area, you can leave this unchecked to bypass the Dialer window. If the number you are dialing is in a non-standard area code, this window will appear even though you have not checked this box.
If you uncheck this box, but need to change options later, you can always restore the Dialer window by right clicking the Dialer button.
The preceding options are saved for each machine using Simple Accounting in the SIMPLE.INI file.
