Access Modes

Rather than market separate versions of our software, each module in the Simple Accounting series includes the necessary programming to operate in Evaluation, or Multi-User (network) mode. The key to activating each mode is the Access Code; a six-digit serial number unique to your copy of the software. The advantages of this system are:

• All prospective customers get to try the actual working software before buying. There is a built-in counter that restricts you to posting 200 records to any data file. If you exceed this limit, the program will continue to function however you will no longer be able to add new records. All other areas of the program, such as reporting and viewing data will operate normally.

• When you decide to purchase the system, you simply start the same program and enter the correct access code to remove the 200-transaction limitation. It is therefore possible to preserve the evaluation data already entered.

• Since multi-user capability is already built-in to the program, purchasing the Multi-User License will enable you to immediately run this software on many workstations, while retaining your original single-user data.

CHANGING USER MODES

To change the operational mode of your module, go to FILES|Setup Global Options and select the Security tab.

FEATURES OF EACH MODE

This Simple Accounting module can operate in three different modes. You can check the current User Mode at any time by pressing the HELP|About menu. They are as follows:

Evaluation The software is shipped to you in an Evaluation mode, including sample data to help you quickly get a feel for the program. The module is limited in the following ways:

• You may only save 200 records in any data file. This means that you are limited to 200 customers, 200 vendors, 200 invoices, etc.

• The software may be operated on a network, but by only one user at any given time.

Single-User In this mode you are not limited to any number of records in any data file. The software may be operated on a network, but by only one user at any given time. Also, you may not use this module with more than one company.

Multi-User This access code need only be typed in once. In this mode you are not limited to any fixed number of records so long as they are on the same server.
