Passwords
Simple Accounting is pre-configured with two levels of password protection; a Master Password and a User Password. The Master Password is set in the FILES|Application Setup|Global window and can only be set by the Default User. You will need the Master Password to access sensitive areas of the program.
User Passwords are unique to each user and are set up by each user in the FILES|Setup|User Options window. This password prevents other users (including the default user) from changing your personal settings.
Whenever a password is required, a data entry window appears, asking you to enter the appropriate password. You have three chances or sixty seconds to enter the correct password. If you do not, the program will end and you will need start the program again.
The default for all passwords is SIMPLE (capital letters, please!). (We put this in red so you’d notice it!)
Passwords are case-sensitive, so you should check your <CapsLock> key if you are initially denied access. Be sure to write down your new password and store it in a safe place. If you lose your password, you will have to contact Suntower Systems in order to regain access to this program.
An unlimited number of levels of password protection are available from Suntower Systems by purchasing our Simple Accounting Security Extensions. This program allows you to configure set up a separate profile for each user which limits their access to specific menu items. It also provides data encryption which prevents other computers from reading your data from external applications.
