Remember These!
First off, there are five especially important topics youll want to refer to over and over. In fact, they are so important that we put buttons right at the top of this help window so you can jump to them whenever you like:
- The first is the Glossary that includes definitions for all the important words and phrases used throughout SAFE EE and this document.
- The second is Keyboard Shortcuts which gives a list of the keystrokes youll use over and over to quickly navigate SAFE EE without requiring that confounded little mouse.
Simple Accounting is very non-mouse friendly. Look for the typewriter icon throughout this text for hints on especially helpful keyboard equivalents.
- The third is General Features which gives you the basics on all the things you interact with over and over in Simple Accounting such as:
- The Main Screen
- Working with browse windows
- Editing records
- Finding records
- Printing basics
- Utilities
- Using Queries
It is very important that you master these concepts as you will use them in every task you perform using Simple Accounting.
- The fourth is what everyone wants to know right at the start: Sales Order Workflow an overview of the sales order process, including getting price quotes from vendors, converting them to customer orders, printing vendor purchase orders and billing the customer. If you read nothing else in this document from this point on, please read this!
- And last, but not least, are the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) which give you a step by step on various procedures and common tasks.

Most of this text is concerned with what the various keystrokes, windows, buttons and reports do. But at various points we will highlight the why of a particular topic with the little professors hat. This indicates a really important concept that you need to understand fully.

Security Alert!
Many features in Simple Accounting are limited to certain Users. These options are controlled by our Simple Accounting Security Extensions program. Some features described here may not even appear on your screen. Whenever this is the case, it is because the feature is limited to specific users by Security Extensions. If this is the case, you will see this icon and be referred to that text for complete information.
Global Options
Almost every feature in Simple Accounting is customizable far beyond what is available in the main interface. This is to accommodate the fact that there are so many ways that you do business. These are set using the Global Options Browse. We cannot point out every possible option (there are currently over 15,000!), but whenever there is a Global Option that will be of interest to a great number of users, we’ll use this icon to tell you so and offer some suggestions to add flexibility to the system.
You should contact us if there is anything in Simple Accounting that you would like to function in a different way (broad statement!) The reason there are so many possible settings in the Global Options Browse is because so many customers over the past two decades have asked for them! So the general rule of thumb is, ‘if you see something that doesn’t work as you hoped it would, ASK!’ Someone else has likely already asked and therefore there is often already a Global Option to handle your need.
