Trouble Connecting Via Web-Based Remote Control
If you are having trouble connecting to Simple Accounting via a remote control application (such as LogMeIn™ or GoToMeeting™) here are a couple of things to keep in mind:
- Remember that you are a database user regardless of where you are connected. If you are not licensed for the multi-user version of Simple Accounting you are still limited to running a single instance of the program.
- Bear in mind that if you run any program within a web remote control program, Simple Accounting is actually running on your server (back in your office.) This places an additional burden on that machine–far more actually than running Simple Accounting locally. A ‘server’ that appears to work fine when running Simple Accounting in your office may balk when run via remote control because it does not have enough RAM or CPU power for the intended use. We recommend that you add at least 2GB of additional RAM for each remote user and strongly consider a CPU upgrade one level above what you might choose as adequate for use as a local server. Eg. If your server has 8GB of RAM and you want to allow for two remote users, you would add 4GB of RAM.
- Also, note that some remote control programs may require you to configure your network router. Consult with your IT professional for your specific case.
