Invalid Filter Option

When I attempt to run a Query, I get an ‘Error 90’ message followed by ‘Bad Or Invalid Filter Option specified.’

This can happen if the Filter Option is invalid, ie. it refers to a field in the database which does not exist. Most often this is because the option was misspelled. Try this:

  1. Determine the Module to which this belongs. If the Query is for a report or form, that will be in the upper left hand corner. If it is for a Browse, the Module will display in the Status Bar at the bottom left of the Simple Accounting program.
  2. Delete the original Query.
  3. Go into UTILITIES|Query Mgr|Filter Options
  4. Scroll down to the Module (from Step #1), find the field which caused the error and hit the [Edit] button.
  5. Click the lookup button and scroll down to select the field.
  6. Press [OK].
  7. Now go back to the Report or Browse and re-create the Query.
