Release

A Release in SAFE is a transaction in which inventory is transferred from one Site to another without being produced and without the Customer (or you) being billed for the sales or costs of the Product. The Customer may be billed for the freight involved or you may be billed by the Vendor.

This is one of those terms which is used by many people to mean many things. But in SAFE it refers to a specific type of transaction, entered either in the Sales Order Browse or in the F/M Browse.

Typically a Release is entered for Customer Owned Product already in storage, either at your warehouse or in off-line storage at a Vendor Site.
