Trial Balance

Trial Balance

The trial balance reflects the sum total of all working accounts during an accounting period. Like all Financial Reports, it is printed by opening the Financial Reports Browse from the G/L Main Menu.

The purpose of the Trial Balance is to let the bookkeeper make certain that all transactions are in balance before generating financial statements and closing the period.

If you choose to include only accounts with non-zero balances you may still see accounts with a zero PERIOD balance. Accounts that have no activity in the selected period but do have a YTD balance are displayed so that the YTD column totals correctly.

The Trial Balance is a summary of each account’s balance. To print a detail of each account’s activity for the period, choose the General Ledger Report.
